📄 📢 ATTENZIONE!!

il 26 novembre si terrà il secondo workshop di progetto dal titolo "INNOVAZIONE E PROSPETTIVE NEL SETTORE DEI TRATTAMENTI FITOSANITARI IN VIGNETO CON DRONI", che si terrà esclusivamente ONLINE, mercoledì 26 novembre, dalle 10:00 alle 12:00.

Il workshop è organizzato dai partner del progetto PRIN 2022 PNRR 3E-UAVspray (Operative solutions for efficient, effective and environmental-friendly UAV-spray applications in vineyards; https://www.3e-uavspray.unito.it/) e vede la collaborazione del Dipartimento di Scienze Agrarie, Forestali ed Alimentari dell'Università di Torino (responsabile scientifico Dott. Marco Grella) con l'Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, sede di Piacenza (responsabile scientifico Prof.ssa Nicoleta Suciu). Tra i relatori del workshop si vedono inoltre il Servizio Fitosanitario della Regione Lombardia (Dott.ssa Luana Giordano) e della Regione Emilia-Romagna (Dott. Valentino Giorgio Rettore).

L’obiettivo del workshop è presentare i risultati ottenuti nel secondo anno di attività del progetto 3E-UAVspray, dedicato alla difesa della vite mediante l’impiego di droni aerei per la distribuzione di prodotti fitosanitari per il contenimento della peronospora. Durante l’incontro verranno inoltre illustrati i confronti con le tecniche tradizionali di distribuzione e saranno presentate le esperienze condotte dai Servizi fitosanitari regionali nell’ambito di attività sperimentali con droni affini.

📄 📢 Participation in the EURO TECH DAY 2025!

Quinta da Pacheca hosted the Euro Tech Day (https://eurotech.daterra.com.pt/), focused on UAV spraying and variable-rate technologies for the management of heroic viticulture.

International experts gathered to discuss regulatory harmonization and to attend live flight demonstrations showcasing precise pesticide application and multispectral monitoring.

Dr. Marco Grella and Prof. Fabrizio Gioielli represented Italy at the event.

The meeting featured the presentation of activities and results from the second year of trials within the PRIN 2022 PNRR project 3E-UAVspray.

📄 📢 International conference AIIA 2025!

At the international conference of the Italian Association of Agricultural Engineering (AIIA 2025) (https://aiiareggiocalabria2025.unirc.it/), held in Reggio Calabria, some results of the PRIN 2022 PNRR 3E-UAVspray project were presented.

The contribution focused on the study of an innovative laboratory methodology to evaluate the reduction of mixture sloshing in agricultural drone tanks. The methodology was then applied to assess a sloshing reduction technique developed for the project’s custom spray kit. The research, aimed at improving the stability and precision of plant protection product distribution in sloped vineyards, showed promising results that pave the way for further developments in the field.

📄 📢 International conference ECPA 2025!

At the European Conference on Precision Agriculture (ECPA 2025), held in Barcelona, some preliminary results from the PRIN 2022 PNRR 3E-UAVspray project were presented.

The contribution focused on a comparative study of aerial and ground-based spraying techniques in vineyards, with particular attention to canopy spray coverage efficiency. Specifically, a new method for applying plant protection products using drones (UAVs) was analyzed and compared with conventional technology (airblast sprayer). The conference was an important opportunity to share the project's progress with the scientific community and discuss new solutions for more sustainable and precise agriculture.

📄 📢 First workshop of 3E-UAVspray Project!

On March 26, 2025, the online workshop “Innovation and Perspectives in the Field of Plant Protection Treatments with Drones” was held as part of the dissemination activities of the 3E-UAVspray project. The event attracted around 200 participants, including agronomists, agricultural technicians, researchers, and crop protection professionals, confirming the strong interest in the use of aerial drones for plant disease management. Following the experimental activities scheduled for the summer season, a second workshop will be organized to conclude the project.  More updates coming soon — stay tuned!

📄 📢 Publication of First-Year Results in Il Corriere Vinicolo!

Issue no. 10/2025 of Il Corriere Vinicolo (pp. 20-21) features some of the first-year results from the 3E-UAVspray project, presented in the article titled "Droni per l'applicazione di prodotti fitosanitari in vigneto" (Italian language).

Tests conducted in Piedmont (Italy) have demonstrated the potential of this technology to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of crop protection, particularly in areas that are difficult to access with traditional machinery. In 2025, the project will continue with new field trials to assess the biological efficacy of aerial-based treatments done with uncrewed aerial spray systems (UASSs).

On February 10th, the annual meeting of the 3E-UAVspray project was held at the Piacenza campus of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC). The project partners attended the event, where the results achieved during the first year of research were presented, and the next activities for the 2025 field season were planned.

📄 📢 News from the 3E-UAVspray Project!

As part of the PRIN 2022 PNRR 3E-UAVspray project, field surveys have begun to prepare for the upcoming tests for the 2025 season. These surveys are a crucial step to gather preliminary data and identify the plots where the tests for Milestone no. 4 (evaluation of a defense plan through UAV field application) will take place. Fieldwork is essential to ensure that the results obtained are accurate and applicable to real-world challenges.

📄 📢 Exciting News from the 3E-UAVspray Project!

We are proud to announce that the preliminary findings from the 3E-UAVspray project, based on the activities carried out during the 2024 growing season, were presented by Margherita Furiosi from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) at the XVII Symposium on Pesticide Chemistry – “Advances and New Challenges,” hosted by UCSC in Piacenza.

A special congratulations to Margherita for winning second place for the best poster presentation with her work titled: "Could UAV spray applications be an innovative solution for heroic vineyards?" This recognition highlights the project's innovative approach and its potential to revolutionize vineyard management in challenging terrains.
